Mexico City handles more cargo, fewer passengers
Sentido Comun - The International Airport of Mexico City reported a 26 percent growth in cargo operations during the first half of this year. However the number of domestic and international passengers declined by 0.6 percent to total some 11.7 million people.
Official wants Guadalajara airport improved
El Informador - Jalisco's tourism secretary is asking Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP) to upgrade the Guadalajara airport, expanding one terminal and adding elevators and other services for the disabled, before the start of the Pan American Games 2011.

New rules on hand luggage revealed
Sentido Comun - Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) revealed the SCT's new regulations for hand luggage carried by passengers on domestic and international flights. The rules update the list of prohibited items and restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols.
Aeromexico starts five daily flights to Tuxla
Sentido Comun - Aeromexico said that from October 1 it will start five flights daily to Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, as part of a "commitment to support local economies." Currently, the airline flies three times a day to Tapachula.
Tourism leader says investment will fall 20 percent
La Cronica de Hoy - Pablo Azcarraga Andrade, president of the National Tourist Business Council (CNET), warned that private investment in the tourism sector this year could fall by 20 percent, the result of inefficient infrastructure and a misdirected campaign to offset the bad image the country has abroad.
Mexico spends $55 million to study tourism
La Jornada - The federal government invested 704 million pesos ($55.52 million) to study the tourism industry and how to attract visitors from the United States and Canada. The amount accounted for 44 percent of the Secretariat of Tourism budget.

New cruise ship dock launched at Manzanillo
Sentido Comun - The Ministry of Communications and Transport has launched a new tourist dock at the port of Manzanillo, which will allow two cruise ships to dock simultaneously. Construction will begin soon on a second specialized container terminal.
Aeromexico creates new Plus class for travelers
Sentido Comun - Aeromexico launched a new class called AeroMexico Plus that will be available in all Boeing 737 aircraft used to fly throughout Mexico and to the United States, as well as San José, Havana, Lima and Bogota. The new class offers more space between seats.
Tourism industry predicts summer recovery
El Financiero - After year and a half of little encouraging results, the Mexican Association of Agencies of Viajes and Chamber of National Tourist Enterprises predict that the vacation season this summer will mark a recovery in the number of visitors at Mexico's main tourist destination.
