Alan Bersin was appointed Assistant Secretary for International Affairs and Special Representative for Border Affairs in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano on April 15, 2009.
He serves as the Secretary's lead representative on Border Affairs and Mexico, develops DHS strategy regarding security, immigration, narcotics, and trade matters affecting Mexico and coordinates the Secretary's security initiatives on the nation's borders.

Immigration and Border Security: Truths, Myths and Binational Cooperation

Miguel “Michael” Unzueta leads the San Diego office of the largest investigative agency within the Department of Homeland Security.
Mr. Unzueta began his federal law enforcement career in 1983 as a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Spokane, Washington. In 1987, he transferred to the United States Customs Service in San Diego, spending a number of years investigating international narcotics cases. In 1992 he was resident agent in charge in San Ysidro, which at the time was the largest and busiest office within the Customs Service.
